As the MP Candidate for West Rural St. Andrew, one of my top priorities is identifying meaningful, results-driven ways to serve the people of this vibrant and diverse constituency. That journey begins with listening—truly listening—to the voices of our residents, understanding their day-to-day challenges, and combining those insights with my decades of leadership in both politics and corporate management.
From these community engagements, five core areas emerged where focused, practical solutions could significantly improve quality of life across the constituency. One of the most pressing? The longstanding issue of land ownership and title processing.
The Land Title Problem: A Barrier to Progress
Too many families across West Rural St. Andrew are living on land they’ve occupied—sometimes for generations—without having the formal documentation to prove ownership. This isn’t just a bureaucratic issue. It’s a deeply personal one.
Without a title, families are unable to access basic opportunities:
- They can’t secure loans to improve their homes or businesses
- They face uncertainty about passing on property to their children
- They remain locked out of systems that provide social and economic security
Land is more than soil—it’s a legacy, a livelihood, and a right. The absence of proper land titles has kept far too many of our residents in limbo. This must change.
My Commitment to Unlocking Land Ownership
As your future Member of Parliament, I am fully committed to helping families transition from informal occupancy to formal ownership. My plan includes:
- Establishing local title clinics in partnership with the relevant government agencies
- Hosting legal aid workshops to help residents understand their rights and obligations
- Advocating for reduced red tape and improved processing timelines
- Creating a step-by-step guide for residents navigating the land titling process
- Building partnerships with land surveyors and legal experts to accelerate title issuance
This is not a promise—it’s a roadmap. And I intend to see it through.
Ownership is Empowerment
When a resident holds a title in their hand, it unlocks possibility. It brings peace of mind. It allows them to plan for the future with confidence. That’s what I want for every family in West Rural St. Andrew.
We deserve a constituency where families are not just surviving, but building, expanding, and creating generational wealth.
